Broadband FAQ

Q:
How can you offer a  8 Mbps product and at such a good price?
A:
In one word: 'LLU'. LLU stands for local loop unbundling. This is the process whereby Bulldog builds and utilises its own broadband network in BT's telephone exchanges. Having its own infrastructure enables Bulldog to offer innovative services with attractive prices and virtually no contention, unlike other ISPs restricted by BT's (wholesale) offerings. Bypassing the BT network means Bulldog can also ensure much greater service quality with service level guarantees.
Q:
How do your prices compare with other Business Broadband Suppliers
A:
We estimate annual saving over £1,390 or typically 58% cheaper compared to  the BT nearest  equivalent broadband ADSL and phone service. A detailed price comparison table is demonstrated here for you.
Q:
How long will it take to activate (‘provision’) the service
A:
Our target activation time-line is 20 working days. However, we strongly advise that you allow up to 30 days, which is indicative of the specific provisioning process involved.
Q:
What areas of the UK is 8 Mbps Broadband  available?
A:
We are constantly expanding the Bulldog @ctive services network. By mid 2005, we'll have 400 exchanges supplying our 8 Meg services across the UK. Right now, Bulldog @ctive is available at the Bulldog LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) exchanges as listed Beleow:

» We will analyse your existing and future Internet usage and connection costs and provide you with a bottom line business case (where there is a real clear return on investment) for migrating  from lease lines (BT private wire) to 2Mbps SDSL and migrating from low speed BT ADSL, ISDN or dial-up to 8 Mbps ADSL or 2Mbps SDSL which ever is best for your business.

» Provide you with Internet Security. A broadband connection provides a permanent link between your IT systems and  the internet with potential Internet Viruses and computer hackers. We implement Security Firewall devices and software in order to reduce the risk to your systems giving protection and peace of mind.

» We can setup the broadband connection so that multiple users on your office LAN can  Share a single connection or bond multiple DSL circuits for extra performance and fault tolerance.

» With a 2 Mbps SDSL service it now becomes  practical to run your own Web server and Email exchange. We can help set up your own Internet Server and Email Service just like large corporate organizations do.

» With your new broadband connection we can set up a secure remote access network to your Email system,  sales database, inventory system etc. for 24x7 access by field based  employees (teleworking from home or while on the move from mobile devices), in order to streamline business procedures and improve customer service.

»We will advise using Voice over Broadband (VoIP) in order to reduce legacy PBX related overheads, reduce call costs, and provide advanced call management for the office. Free calls between sites, teleworkers and  partners.

»With your new broadband connection we advise using Video Conferencing in order to save time on traveling to meetings and start making video calls from your desktop.

»Using broadband for Networking (using IP-VPN technology) in order to integrate multiple remote offices, effectively sharing information and resources  irrespective of geographic location.
